Hearst Speaks was created in 2020 to support learning through curated content from Hearst brands on important social issues, specifically racial issues. A constantly evolving set of stories on Hearst’s intranet, it reflects the diversity of Hearst’s content and encourages colleagues to explore and learn.

Hearst is thrilled to be a part of the 2023 NYC Pride March. LGBTQ+ ERGs from across Hearst Television, Newspapers, Fitch, and Magazines gathered to walk the parade and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. Joined by thousands of other supporters, Hearst employees marched in honor of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising.
Hearst Conversations
The In Conversation With series invites a diverse array of thought leaders to share their perspectives with colleagues. In 2022, the series welcomed actor, producer and activist Daniel Dae Kim, activist and award-winning actress Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, poet and author Amanda Gorman, actor and activist Nyle DiMarco, among many others, for important discussions with Hearst colleagues.

Hearst Charlotte DE&I
Hearst’s DE&I team in Charlotte, North Carolina, organizes impactful events and programming that emphasize the importance of community building and giving back. From celebrating influential women at Hearst with panels featuring Soledad O’Brien and Lori Waldon to drives that support Catherine’s House – a nonprofit that supports women and children facing homelessness – the Charlotte DE&I team continues to engage colleagues for good.
RISE Pop-Up Cafe Integrations
Hearst has made it a priority to introduce and promote products from a diverse group of founders to colleagues through pop-up events, spotlights in its newsletter and in the cafe at Hearst Tower, which has a broad range of products available for sale.

RISE Summit Featured Over 40 ERGs from Across Hearst
In May, Hearst hosted the third virtual RISE Leaders Summit. More than 80 colleagues attended from across the globe, representing all of our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). Four ERG leaders from the Hearst Magazines Spark Women’s Network, Hearst Magazines Black Culture, HTV Parents Group and the Fitch Pride Network shared their learnings and strategies to maximize engagement within their ERGs. Yasmine Osborn, Diversity and Inclusion Director of Hearst Television provided opening remarks and Mark Campbell, Chief Marketing Officer and SVP of Hearst Newspapers, shared his insights on the power of ERGs as an executive sponsor.

The T. Howard Foundation
Since 2017, Hearst has partnered with the T. Howard Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to increasing diversity in the media industry. For eight weeks every summer, more than 25 paid interns work across all Hearst businesses and participate in programming to gain real-world experience, skills and mentorship from Hearst colleagues.
Hearst engages with public and private partners to further its DE&I mission.
