Supplier Diversity - Colleagues gathered at a diverse supplier food truck

SUPPLIER DIVERSITY aligns the company’s supplier base with its customer base. Hearst believes by proactively identifying, promoting and purchasing goods and services from historically underrepresented groups, including companies owned and operated by members of minority groups, women, military veterans, disabled persons and members of the LGBTQ+ community, the company strengthens its businesses, relationships and communities.

SPOTLIGHT

“I started Dutech in 2015 to increase diversity in the tech sector. The tech sector struggled with having enough companies that were led by women. I wanted to create a world-class IT staffing and consulting firm that, from its inception, was extremely inclusive and celebrated its diversity as one of its core strengths.”

Dutech Systems, a global IT consulting and staffing firm, was established in 2015. Today, Dutech is a leading, multinational IT firm and a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Women Business Enterprise (WBE).

Meet & Greet Summit

Hearst has committed to promoting diverse supplier development in its communities. Hearst aims to help small business owners better understand the opportunities and how to do business with a large complex organization. To address this, in 2022, the Supplier Diversity team held the first Supplier Diversity summits in New York City and Charlotte, North Carolina, to connect with current and prospective diverse suppliers. Each summit focused on specific spending categories relevant to the particular location. The summits also included diverse, local food vendors and Hearst-branded products sourced from various suppliers. In total over 100 suppliers joined, many of which are now active with Hearst. Based on the success and feedback from the suppliers, the team is planning additional summits in 2023 in San Francisco and Houston.

RISE Brands & Products @ Hearst

Building on the success of 2022, in 2023 Hearst will continue highlighting diverse suppliers and their brands in retail at the Hearst Café and through sampling opportunities throughout the country. Hearst will also continue to develop features and discounts in each issue of the biweekly CONNEX newsletter and on Hearst’s intranet Perks page.
