Very Local streaming channels launched in September 2021. The VL team churns out exceptional content from Hearst Television’s local markets, placing a priority on highlighting diverse voices, via the show host or the subject of the piece.

Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien
Veteran journalist Soledad O’Brien, whose résumé includes time at NBC and CNN, hosts Matter of Fact, a weekly newsmagazine that focuses on political and socioeconomic issues affecting America.
Harlem Globetrotters: Play It Forward
Hearst Media Production Group’s Harlem Globetrotters: Play It Forward is a celebration of the 96-year-old franchise that has delighted fans of all ages. Hosted by actor and comedian Craig Robinson, this series brings the Harlem Globetrotters back into the national spotlight by showcasing their talents both on and off the court. In each city they visit, the team finds ways to help the community through volunteerism, mentorship and one-on-one connections that make a lasting impact on everyone they meet.
Mission Unstoppable
Highlighting the fascinating female innovators who are on the cutting edge of science — including zoologists, engineers, astronauts, codebreakers and oceanographers. Host Miranda Cosgrove profiles female STEM superstars in the fields of social media, entertainment, animals, design and the internet — all categories key to the teen experience.

The Emma Bowen Foundation Fellowship (EBFF) has been working to increase diversity in media, entertainment and technology since 1989. EBFF places promising students of color in internships at the nation’s leading companies and advocates for the best practices in diverse hiring, retention and advancement. Hearst is one of the largest and longest-standing partners to date, hosting 38 fellows across the stations in 2022. There are currently 22 EBF alums working at Hearst Television.

The Emerson Coleman Fellowship is designed to increase the number of diverse individuals pursuing careers in broadcasting, specifically local television programming and content production. Among the industry’s most highly regarded programming executives, Emerson Coleman most recently served as senior vice president of programming for Hearst Television, where he oversaw the company’s program development and acquisitions for over two decades.

Hearst Television has launched the Marty Faubell Broadcast Technology Fellowship Program, which is named for Martin “Marty” Faubell, who retired from Hearst Television in 2020 after serving the company for more than three decades, most recently as vice president of engineering. The fellowship is designed to expose participants to all aspects of television production, with emphasis on engineering, IT and the role of these disciplines within a live broadcast facility. The program is comprised of a 10-week period of hands-on experience within broadcast operations, engineering and IT maintenance and support, electronic newsgathering, production and broadcast transmission, among other skills and activities.

The Creative Services Associate Producer Fellowship is a one-year immersive development program. Candidates are full-time employees embedded with a local Hearst Television station, gaining important insights into all roles within creative services, plus ongoing training and engagement with peers and colleagues throughout the group. At the end the fellowship, associate producers will be armed with the skills and knowledge needed to be a successful and valuable contributor to a Hearst Television creative services department.

The Sales Account Associate Program is a one-year account executive-in-training role. This provides individuals interested in starting a career in sales the opportunity to complete a comprehensive training program that sets them up for success as an account executive.

The legendary Fred Young worked for Hearst for more than 40 years, producing impactful, award-winning stories. Dedicated to his accomplishments, the Fred Young Hearst Television Producer Fellowship is a 12-week paid fellowship program at a Hearst television station.

Hearst Television's Paid Internship Program provides a positive, professional and hands-on learning experience designed to help students gain comprehensive knowledge of working in a television station through the operations in different departments. The goal of the internship program is to expose students to a work environment that introduces a diverse set of experiences and increasing levels of responsibility. HTV interns will be coached to be observant, ask questions and learn from industry professionals.
